Kalamazoo is a city rich in diverse history. However, it is also steeped in art and culture. Visitors to the city can experience a very wide range of performing arts, as well as other forms of art and culture. What’s on offer within the city?

The New Vic Theatre – The New Vic Theatre was built in 1966 and has remained a mainstay of the city’s performing arts culture since that time. The theater offers guests some of the most enjoyable live shows possible. Ongoing traditions at the theater include the annual Christmas Concerts, as well as a production of “A Christmas Carol.” Of course, the theater also offers new productions, musical events and other options throughout the year.

The Barn Theatre – The Barn Theatre is actually located just outside of Kalamazoo, in Augusta, Michigan. The Barn Theatre is actually located within a converted barn, on M-96. The Barn Theatre is renowned for their summertime offerings, which have included some of the most popular productions in the US, including Hairspray and Annie Get Your Gun.

The Kalamazoo Civic Theatre – The Kalamazoo Civic Theatre dates all the way back to 1931 and has remained an integral part of the community since that time. The venue has offered every form of production, from dramas to comedies throughout its long life and has long held a commitment to the local community.

The Farmers Alley Theatre – The Farmers Alley Theatre is located in the heart of downtown Kalamazoo and offers easy access for visitors wishing to catch some of the hottest productions in town. This is also the newest theater in town, though it has become one of the most popular options for locals and visitors alike.

Kalamazoo State Theatre – The Kalamazoo State Theatre is known as the “premier live concert venue” in the city. Here, visitors and residents can catch live musical performances ranging from blues to rock, hip-hop to pop, and everything in between.

Kalamazoo Institute of Arts – The Kalamazoo Institute of Arts is an incredible venue within the city, offering children of all ages, as well as teens and adults access to art programs, workshops, classes and more. Each offering is designed to help teach skills and impart an appreciation for art, from ceramics to painting.
